I originally used the phrase "from strength to strength" however my tutor explained that this is an empty phrase and I should think of a better term? So something along those lines but put simply.

Or, if it's single words you'd like you use, Cambridge Dictionary has a nice word cloud for inspiration. FWIW, "go from strength to strength" is particularly common when talking about bands who are consistently popular for many years.
