hiii. i know you guys aren't allowed to make fun of me even though i'm sure you want to.
i am working on graduate applications for counseling psychology and currently writing about multicultural and social justice competencies. essentially, i would like to say something like:
"given the vastness of academic and applied knowledge of other cultures (their histories, traditions, languages, values, identities etc.), our responsibility includes learning as much as we can.
BUT it is paramount that we are humbled by the understanding that can never [ACHIEVE, ATTAIN, AQUIRE)* a total knowledge of multiculturalism..."
/////////////////////////////////////////////////
** SO. i'm trying to say that multicultural competence is a learning quest, a continuous journey of both self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
it is a constitutive good. you can be a champion of multicultural competence, you can enact it every day, and research as hard as you can but you're never done. you can never have all the info. just like we can never HAVE self-awareness, or knowledge- not entirely. does this make sense? help!
i'm sorry. i have been awake for way too long. would shut my eyes now but i know it'll only be a few minutes before you guys come up with absolute GOLD. i love reading this website. this is my first entry, so don't tear me up!

Your description sounds like an endless but honorable "work in progress". I believe, at least, this should lead you in the right direction. Do get some sleep.
