A word to describe the contour of a sheet of paper [on hold]
.everyoneloves__top-leaderboard:empty,.everyoneloves__mid-leaderboard:empty,.everyoneloves__bot-mid-leaderboard:empty{ margin-bottom:0;
}
I'm looking for a word to describe the outline of a paper document.
For instance in the sentence :
The software will detect the edges of the receipt over the dark background.
I have multiple synonyms that come to mind but I don't know which one would be the more appropriate and not too technical.
Potential synonyms:
- Shape
- Contour
- Edges
- Outline
- Frame
I feel like all of these could be correct but maybe depending on the context or the audience.
What would you recommend?

Your first sentence says "I'm looking for a word to describe the outline of a paper document." If that is an accurate description of the situation then you've already used the word that is right for you. If not, what is wrong with 'outline'?

I think you’re too focused on how the software does what it does. To the average user, “the software can recognize the receipt against a dark background.”

@Mitch I wasn't sure this was the accurate word even though it conveys the idea (English isn't my first language).
